DESCRIPTION: This is an ORIGINAL OEM and very rare 2005 Shelby Cobra GT500 Mustang Concept Promo Poster. It was produced for dealerships and was also available at a few larger Ford events in 2005. It features a super rare concept car: The 2005 Shelby Cobra GT500. Only a limited number of posters were produced.

ABOUT THE CONCEPT CAR:  

• What is it?: The 2005 Shelby Cobra GT500 concept car was a show car unveiled at the 2005 New York Auto Show, previewing the production 2007 Shelby GT500 and blending classic Shelby design with modern Ford SVT engineering. Powered by a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 engine producing over 450 hp, it combined elements from the Ford GT supercar and the Mustang GT. The concept car featured SVT-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes, and the aggressive styling that would define the reborn GT500

  • Engine: A supercharged 5.4-liter, 32-valve V8 engine, which evolved from SVT's experience with the Ford GT engine, was intended to deliver more than 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. 
     
  • Supercharger: It featured an Eaton M122H Roots-style supercharger with 9 psi of boost. 
     
  • Transmission: A T-56 six-speed manual gearbox was planned to handle the power. 
     
  • Brakes: The concept included 14-inch front discs with 4-piston Brembo calipers. 
     
  • Suspension: While utilizing a modified solid rear axle from the Mustang GT, the concept also incorporated revised bushings, spring rates, and shock rates. 
     
  • Design: The car showcased an aggressive front fascia with a functional air splitter, heat-extraction ducts in the hood, and a reworked front fascia with large air openings to give it a unique, muscular look inspired by vintage Shelby Mustangs. 
     
  • Purpose: The concept served as a strong hint to the production SVT Mustang Shelby GT500, which would become the most powerful factory Mustang ever produced.

  • Rebirth of the Shelby GT500:

    The concept marked the historic return of the GT500 nameplate, unused since 1970, and represented the first time Carroll Shelby partnered with Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) for a factory performance Mustang.

    The 2005 Shelby Cobra GT500 concept laid the groundwork for the 2007 production Shelby GT500, which set new benchmarks for Mustang performance and is remembered as a highly desirable muscle car.

  This was a 1 of 1 Concept. Ford dropped the "Cobra" marque, and started producing an amazing Shelby GT500 Mustang soon after.  

POSTER CONDITION: This poster is NEW and in GREAT condition! These have NO tears or fold lines. The edges are clean. It is printed on standard glossy paper.

SIZE: Standard 36" x 24"

RATING: 9/10. Great. Orignal OEM poster, not a reprint. There may be very light waves in the body of the poster. If you were to mat/frame this poster, you would not notice any flaws.

HOW WE SHIP POSTERS: We've been shipping posters through USPS for over 25 years. Posters are stored flat, then we carefully roll our posters to fit in a 2" plastic sleeve. Then it is placed in a thick 2.5 inch cardboard tube. The extra .5 inch space gives extra protection against if/when the shipping tube gets dinged. In the past, that ding would usually result in creasing of the poster. Since we started sleeving our posters about 10 years ago, not one has been damaged in transit. We tape the end caps down to secure the poster inside. Tracking is added to all shipments. All orders are generally shipped within one business day, unless we are closed for a short vacation or we're attending a Mustang show with our mobile store.

THE ODD THING ABOUT USPS TRACKING: We place our shipping labels horizontally on the shipping tube to allow for a better reading of the tracking barcode. However, many of the USPS automated tracking scanners (that scan shipments along the way) still have trouble reading lables on a round package. You'll aways see the initial scan from Lakewood, CA, but sometimes your package isn't scanned again until it's delivered.
